The spring-handle action keeps hand tension low and gives predictable closing force—useful for microsurgery and dissection under a scope. Quality stainless steel holds an edge and is compatible with sterilization; protect the tips with caps, avoid contact with metal instruments on the cutting edge, and apply instrument lubricant after autoclaving to maintain smooth action.
What materials can spring scissors cut effectively?
Vannas-style vannas scissors are intended for delicate soft tissues (membranes, vessels, conjunctiva, dura) and fine sutures (e.g., nylon, polypropylene, silk in micro ranges). They are not designed for wire, heavy banding materials, thick cartilage, or drape clips—use dedicated wire cutters or heavier scissors for those tasks to prevent edge damage.
